ITI Board Elects New Board Member and ITI Kicks-off Recruitment for 2010 Cohort

DENVER, CO, March 02, 2010 -The Board of Directors of the Intermodal Transportation Institute (ITI) at the University of Denver has elected William (Bill) J. Shea, Jr., Founder and President of Kelly Transportation, to the Board. The ITI Board is comprised of more than 50 transportation industry leaders throughout the U.S. and abroad. William (Bill) G. Stewart, previously Vice President, Procurement & Logistics for MeadWestvaco Corporation, recently retired from the ITI Board and has been elected to ITI Board Emeritus status, which carries a life membership and honors his service to ITI and the ITI Board.

ITI also announced that it is recruiting management professionals for its ninth class, which will begin this Fall Quarter and continue for six, consecutive quarters. ITI offers an Executive Masters Program that awards a fully accredited Master of Science in Intermodal Transportation Management from the University of Denver. The academic program consists of 60 quarter-hour credits; a six-day, on-campus residency each quarter for five quarters; and an international travel seminar in the sixth quarter to gain increased knowledge of global transportation in the 21st century. The program is designed for full-time, working professionals who may be based anywhere. Students from the U.S., Mexico, Canada, Europe, and Australia have attended the program.

We are very pleased with the success that the ITI Executive Masters Program has achieved, said ITI Founding Chairman of the Board Gil Carmichael. We structured this coursework to be a joint academic-transportation industry venture, aimed at educating the next generation of transportation leaders, and it has been very well received by the numerous transportation industry leaders who support our program. To date, the industry-academic partnership at the University of Denver has graduated more than 135 people, many of whom have been promoted within their companies while attending the program or following graduation. Some graduates now serve on the ITI Board of Directors. The ITI graduate program has become an important part of the management development and key employee retention efforts for many transportation and supply-chain organizations.

This year, the curriculum of the graduate program includes an additional course on supply-chain management and the two legal studies courses were consolidated into one course. The ongoing curriculum improvement of this graduate program is a direct result of transportation-related industry input received from students, faculty, and the ITI Board.

The ITI Office is currently accepting applications for the 2010 program.
