ITI Celebrates the Graduation of the Class of 2010

DENVER, CO, July 22, 2010 – The Intermodal Transportation Institute (ITI) at the University of Denver recently graduated its seventh cohort of transportation management professionals from its prestigious graduate program that awards a Master of Science in Intermodal Transportation Management.

Graduating students and their families attended the recent graduation reception and hooding ceremony, where they heard addresses from graduating students, faculty, and key industry guests. The students thanked the faculty for their assistance throughout their coursework and their families for their support throughout their graduate studies. One of the highlights of the program was the many friendships that were solidified during the six quarters of study and travel.

Michael Byrne, CEO of Linfox Australia and a graduate of ITI’s Cohort 1, also addressed the students on behalf of Lindsay Fox, founder of LinFox Australia and current ITI Board Member. Linfox Australia is a strong supporter of the ITI Executive Masters Program, sending a total of 12 students to the program, including the three that are being supported for Cohort 9, beginning this fall.

Speaking to the students, Byrne addressed the importance of lifelong learning – learning that does not end with the completion of their MS degree from ITI. He emphasized the growing global transportation competition and the opportunities available in business today, particularly as they relate to the Asia Pacific Region. He also addressed the choices that needed to be made during a career that aspires to be at the executive level of a company, as well as the choices that a family must make, the family support that is important, the on-the-job demands that are made on an executive’s time, and the potential relocations that will be necessary and their implications to the family. “These are tough decisions, tough priorities to agree to, in the ‘real world’,” he said.

To date, more than 120 transportation management professionals have graduated from the ITI program. Cohort 8 is currently continuing its coursework and Cohort 9 will begin this fall.
