ITI Welcomes Cohort 10

DENVER, CO, October 11, 2011 – The Intermodal Transportation Institute (ITI) at the University of Denver announced that its newest class of 21 transportation management professionals has begun its Executive Masters Program.

Cohort 10, which began this 2011 Fall Quarter, is yet another large, diverse class to enroll since the graduate program’s inception in 1999. In its 12-year history of further educating transportation management professionals, ITI has matriculated 182 students in its graduate program and has graduated 135 through June 2011. ITI’s unique Executive Masters Program has a retention rate of 99 percent and a very high graduation rate of 97 percent. Cohort 9 (22 professionals) will graduate in June 2012 and Cohort 10 will do so in 2013. ITI graduates receive a Master of Science in Intermodal Transportation Management from the University of Denver.

This year’s Cohort 10 includes transportation management professionals from Canada and Australia, in addition to the U.S. They are also from a broad spectrum of transportation sectors, including rail, trucking, marine services, port operations, intermodal management companies, express services, retail companies, and consulting services.

“The broad-based participation shown in the most recent cohort is a reflection of the growing interest from international transportation professionals to better understand the need for new management skills in this age of global intermodal shipping that is necessary to meet the transportation challenges of the 21st century,” said George C. Woodward, President of the ITI Board of Directors and President of Clouds Hill Capital, Inc. “ITI, and its graduate program, are successfully providing a collaborative learning experience that helps provide future transportation leaders with the management, analytical, and operational skills necessary to address both business and public-policy issues during these critical times for the global transportation industry. ITI’s October residency week will bring two cohorts and ITI Board members together on campus to interact with one another. This is a great example of how this unique graduate program works.”

The ITI Faculty Team consists of 16 members, representing faculty from the University of Denver, other universities, and industry executives and leaders. In addition, throughout a cohort, ITI will host between 30 and 40 guest speakers in various courses. The program includes on-campus residencies and an international travel seminar. The collaboration between industry and academia enhances the learning experience of the participants in the ITI Executive Masters Program and further reinforces the value of higher education for transportation managers and professionals.
