Jacobson Companies Announces Desmond Gay as President, Asia, at Jacobson Global Logistics
Des Moines, IA – (March 7, 2011) – Jacobson Companies, a leading worldwide third party logistics company, is pleased to announce it has hired Desmond Gay as President of its Asia Pacific operations. Mr. Gay is responsible for Jacobson’s business in the Asia Pacific region and is domiciled in Hong Kong.
The president, Asia, position is responsible for development of Jacobson Companies business in Asia, including the expansion of Jacobson Global Logistics and the recent acquisition of Chimerica Global Logistics in Greater China. Chimerica’s executive management team including Jason Woo (VP Business Development) and Marcus Woo (VP Operations Greater China) will report to Desmond Gay.
Mr. Gay joins Jacobson from DTW Logistics Group, China, former JV partner of FEDEX China, where he was CEO for three and a half years. During his tenure at DTW, Mr. Gay was responsible for the freight forwarding and contract logistics business units with combined staff strength of approximately 1,500 employees.
Prior to joining DTW, Mr. Gay held a variety of increasingly senior management positions within Deutsche Post AG beginning in 2000. He first held the position of vice president, intercontinental integrated services, Asia Pacific for Singapore-based Danzas AEI Freight Forwarding. Later, Mr. Gay held the position of senior vice president, DHL Excel Supply Chain Greater China, based in Shanghai. He has also held positions at Air Express International Singapore and Shell Singapore. Mr. Gay holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree and a Master of Business Administration from Roosevelt University.
