Jacksonville, FL, March 26, 2012 – The Jacksonville Port Authority (JAXPORT) is pleased to announce details of the 11th annual Caribbean Shipping Executives Conference, taking place May 21-23 at the Omni Plantation in Amelia Island. This prestigious conference is being held in North Florida for the first time and JAXPORT is proud to be host for the event.

More than 200 maritime executives from over 20 Caribbean and Latin American countries and territories will convene for the conference. All will be senior executives in shipping, logistics and international business gathered to share best practices and to discuss issues affecting the maritime and shipping industries in the Caribbean. The event schedule is as follows:

  • May 21 – 22: Conference sessions and tour of JAXPORT
  • May 23: Conference sessions.

“This conference presents an ideal opportunity to network with leaders in the field, as the Caribbean Shipping Association is the voice of the region’s shipping industry,” said JAXPORT CEO Paul Anderson. “The focus will be on the challenges and opportunities common to all maritime decision-makers and will lead us to better business choices and relationships.”

The Caribbean region is JAXPORT’s largest trading partner, accounting for 43 percent of all trade moving through the port. JAXPORT also is the No. 1 port by tonnage in the United States for trade with Puerto Rico, one of the Caribbean’s largest consumer markets.

The Caribbean Shipping Association (CSA) was established in 1971 to facilitate development of an efficient, viable Caribbean shipping industry. The CSA represents private and public sector interests across the entire Caribbean, including South, Central and North American ports. CSA membership includes 12 national shipping associations and more than 100 individual member entities, including shipping lines, port authorities, terminal operators, shippers and others.
