Jet Propulsion Laboratory chooses STI for Sensitive Aeronautics Equipment
Specialized Transportation Inc., STI, the leader in high value product logistics, moves mission critical flight hardware and ground support equipment for the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) MSL Project. STI met the JPL project with confidence and a solid plan for routing options, check points, safe havens, climate crisis management and a high level of security during all facets of the move.
Ian Nicolson, STI, President and CEO stated, “This project certainly was not a ‘typical’ move for STI. We were chosen due to our background in moving high value equipment, heavy security experience, and specialized equipment.” STI’s drivers and equipment had to meet very stringent inspections and interviews with JPL engineers and Management staff. The move was synchronized with scrutiny at every point of the project. One of JPL’s concerns was security; STI presented a menu of options for them to choose. The system utilized provided online visibility to the shipments throughout the day and night and allowed JPL to uniquely identify each shipment which made it easier for them to track. “We even provided a history report to show every step of the project,” Nicolson noted.
“This complex move was a ‘hands-on’ project; we were there on-site during the loading and unloading to ensure a smooth transport. JPL expressed their gratitude to the drivers’ attitudes and willingness to comply with all their requests. Everything from storage during transit, hauling, rigging, permitting to the highway patrols; we covered a unique scope of work, but that’s just what we do, if we don’t have the equipment we need – we will pull the team together to get the job done,” stated STI’s Agent, Melanie Anderson, Executive Moving Systems, Anaheim, California.
“Our experience with the STI and Executive Moving Systems teams was exemplary and met all of the needs and addressed any concerns our organization had with regard to the move. Our requirements were fairly demanding from the drivers, planning, tracking and security. We were impressed with the level of options we were presented; it told us that they had the systems in place to handle our project,” shared Bartel Drake, Shipping & Receiving Supervisor and Jesse Hernandez, Shipping & Receiving Group Lead, Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
