Journal of Commerce Announces New Container Shipping Conference in Shanghai, China

NEWARK, N.J., April 11, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The Journal of Commerce, organizers of the Trans-Pacific Maritime (TPM) Conference in Long Beach and the TPM Asia event, the world's largest container shipping conference, will launch the 1st JOC Container Shipping Conference – Shanghai in June 2011. The event, focused on container shipping and logistics in mainland China, the world's largest container market, will take place on June 21 and 22, 2011.

The event will be hosted by Shanghai International Port Group (SIPG), operator of the Port of Shanghai, the world's No. 1 container port, with more than 29 million TEUs handled in 2010. The event, featuring leading executives, experts and commentators on container shipping issues, will focus on critical issues facing BCOs, carriers, 3PL's in China. Among them are:

  • Impact of rising manufacturing, assembly and logistics costs
  • Inland migration of manufacturing and assembly and impact on container logistics
  • Supply and demand/freight rate markets headed into an uncertain 2011 peak season
  • Logistics challenges in serving China's emerging domestic consumer market
  • The Yangtze River as an emerging container logistics corridor.
The event will also feature an analysis of freight rates, supply and demand in container vessel capacity, contracting, port issues and other topics of interest to shippers or beneficial cargo owners who are moving container cargo from China to North America and Asia.
