Korean Air Offers Aid To Japan Quake Victims

(March 18, 2011) -- Korean Air is providing thousands of blankets and bottles of mineral water to the victims of the earthquake in Japan, and expediting travel for people who wish to return home.

For the next two days, the airline will be including relief items on its regularly-scheduled flights to Japan (Narita). The water and blankets will then be delivered to the Northeast region including Miyagi. The airline is donating at least 5,000 boxes (60,000 1.5-liter bottles) of mineral water and 2,000 blankets.

Meanwhile, Korean Air is adding flights to its Korea-Japan routes and has expanded capacity on existing flights between Korea and Japan to help people wanting to return home. The airline has reduced fares by 50% for passengers purchasing one-way tickets from Japan.

In recent years Korean Air has joined relief efforts in the aftermath a number of disasters throughout Asia including ones in China, Japan, New Zealand and Thailand, by providing blankets, water and financial support.
