Labelmaster Sponsors 4th Annual Dangerous Goods Instuctor's Symposium

CHICAGO--(November 17, 2009)--Labelmaster(R), a leading manufacturer and distributor of regulatory compliance products, hosted its 4th Annual Dangerous Goods Instructor's Symposium in Chicago September 23-25. Representatives from airlines, chemical and cargo companies, and commercial and government trainers from 13 different countries were able to network and discuss important regulatory issues and trends.

The Symposium theme, Closing the Knowledge Gap, focused on increasing the skills and knowledge of the professionals who provide training to those responsible for shipping dangerous goods. The U.S. Department of Transportation Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration, in partnership with the Dangerous Goods Advisory Council, has established Training Guidelines. Additional input has come from attendees of previous Dangerous Goods Instructor's Symposiums. At this Symposium attendees discussed implementation of the Guidelines.

Topics covered at the Symposium included an in-depth review of 2011 revisions to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) packing instructions, review of U.S. Department of Transportation Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) regulations, lithium battery transportation safety, dangerous goods management in various global locations, UN packaging and labeling, and round table discussions on instructor standards and best practices.
