Logwin Introduces New Worldwide IT Tool for Ship Parts Logistics
GREVENMACHER, Luxembourg, March 20 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Direct to the wharf, in the harbor or on the high seas -- on behalf of the maritime industry and shipping companies Logwin quickly supplies ships around the world with component or replacement parts, as well as commodities. Logwin has developed a special online tool for the exceptional demands of Ship Parts Logistics.
Supported by the 'Logwin Boat' IT platform, customers can stay informed about the real-time status of all goods movements and the current transaction processes at all times. Additionally, Logwin Boat -- comparable to a warehouse administrative system -- steers the efficient stocking of the Logwin warehouse with ship parts and supply goods. This dynamic database system is now being introduced to all Logwin sites around the globe.

This new development in the Logwin Boat IT platform allows all logistics processes around Ship Parts Logistics to be planned in advance while at the same time providing transparency. The databank system is accessible through any Internet connection -- meaning even onboard ships -- without the installation of additional software. It is accessed with a simple login with personalized password. Logwin Boat administers double ship names (name given by the owners, charter name with the shipping company) and documents the inventory of replacement parts and supplies per ship. Volker Hoebelt, Director Global Sales + Marketing Air + Ocean with Logwin, says, We successfully completed development of Logwin Boat about a year and a half ago and then began field testing it. During the test phase we intensively tried out the basis version with selected customers and continuously expanded it to the customers' specific requirements. This has resulted in a powerful online tool that we can now offer to our customers around the world.
The top priorities with this IT system are user-friendliness and security.
Logwin Boat is easy to use from the first time onward. Every step is self- explanatory. Each order is set up in just one data set. Various authorization levels ensure who can see and/or edit which data.
From planning to process control
Logwin Boat supports the efficient planning and execution of logistics processes for maritime industries with numerous of service features. The IT platform allows quick determination of which means of transport are best suited for a concrete transportation assignment. Depending upon the specific ship part necessary, it is clear at one glance in which warehouse the part is currently on hand. Using this data as a basis, Logwin Boat can automatically generate packing lists, dispatch documents and invoices. On behalf of shipping companies the Logwin offices can thus issue relevant transportation documents at any time. During transport every user can see at a glance which parts from which suppliers are available at which sites.
Logwin Boat also functions as an efficient warehouse administrative system -- if a ship orders a specific part or commodities, the ordered goods are simultaneously removed from the inventory data from the relevant warehouse and Logwin then promptly re-stocks the warehouse. Volker Hoebelt explains, For our Ship Parts Logistics around the world we use sixteen special Logwin Service Centers, based for example in Dubai, Hamburg, Johannesburg, Sao Paulo, Singapore and Shanghai. That means we are always quickly on the scene with our Ship Parts deliveries around the world.
