Longistics’ Pat Long Wins 2010 Women Extraordinaire Award
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. – Longistics, a full-service provider of global logistics solutions, has announced that Pat Long, vice chairman, has been named a 2010 Women Extraordinaire recipient. The Women Extraordinaire Awards are among the Triangle’s most prestigious accolades honoring area businesswomen. Those selected as Women Extraordinaire are recognized for being leaders, innovators, problem solvers and inspirations to other women. These women serve the community by making a difference for worthy causes or by providing leadership, direction or support to service-based professional, civic or charitable organizations. The awards were presented at a luncheon on Dec. 10 at Events at Newton Square in Raleigh, N.C.

- Pat Long and her husband, Duane, created Longistics in 1984. The organization provides global logistics, transportation, warehousing and Foreign Trade Zone management operations in the Global TransPark near Kinston, N.C., and at Research Triangle Park near the RDU airport.
- The Longs helped establish the North Carolina China Center to expand the state’s logistics and supply chain industries into the world marketplace. They recently were honored by the N.C. Transportation Hall of Fame with the 2010 Earl E. Congdon, Jr. Award for Excellence in Highway Freight Transportation.
- A recognized industry leader, Pat Long has started a number of successful businesses over the past 30 years. In 1997, she became the first woman chair of the North Carolina Trucking Association. Among her numerous awards and honors are the American Trucking Associations Federation Star Award, INC. magazine’s 500 Fastest Growing Companies, Triangle Business Journal’s Women in Business Award, and the Isaac Hunter Excellence in Service Award. Gov. Beverly Perdue has appointed Pat to serve on the advisory board of the North Carolina Logistics Task Force.
