Los Angeles Customs Brokers & Freight Forwarders Association Elects 2014 Officers

On Saturday February 8, 2014, the Los Angeles Customs Brokers and Freight Forwarders Association (LACBFFA) elected its 2014 officers:

Mr. Mark Hirzel, Director of Global Trade Management at MIQ Logistics was elected President; Mr. Wayne Wagner, Senior Manager, U.S. Brokerage Services of FedEx Trade Networks was elected Vice President; Ms. Barbara Clarke, Vice President of Williams Clarke Co, Inc. was elected Secretary; Ms. Karen Quintana, Director, National Sales, Customs Brokerage, Yusen Logistics (Americas), Inc. was elected Treasurer; and Mr. Vincent Iacopella, Managing Director of The Janel Group of Los Angeles, Inc. assumes the position of Board Chairman.

Other Board members include, Crystal Adair, Schenker, Inc.; Maurine Cecil, Western Overseas Corp.; Sandra Coty, Barthco International, Inc., dba OHL-International; Rex Sherman, Green Worldwide Shipping, LLC., and Gary Stratton, Norman Krieger, Inc.

Incorporated in 1949, the LACBFFA represents licensed U.S. customs brokers, freight forwarders, NVOCCs (non-vessel operating common carriers) and firms which facilitate international trade. LACBFFA is the premier organization in Southern California for international trade and U.S. Customs issues, and its more than 300 members, employing over 6,000 individuals, file more than 95% of all commercial import shipments in the Los Angeles / Long Beach Customs District.

LACBFFA is a dynamic organization, rich in history, not resting on past laurels and is led by dedicated business professionals with a spirit of cooperation.

LACBFFA aims to achieve standardization in the customs brokerage and international freight forwarding industry and to promote a high degree of professional conduct among its members, including high standards of ethics and financial viability. LACBFFA provides leadership to its members in dealing with city, state and federal agencies as well as offering a forum for the exchange of ideas. LACBFFA acts as an authoritative voice for the industry at official and government levels. The Association aims to set industry standards and provides educational courses which enhance the professional standards of the industry in Southern California.
