Harding to Lead Transportation Benchmarking Services

Chainalytics LLC, a supply chain consulting firm focused on enabling fact-based supply chain decisions, announced today that Matthew Harding has joined the company as a principal in its transportation practice. Harding will be responsible for leading the continuing development and delivery of Chainalytics’ Model-Based Benchmarking Consortium (MBBC).

As the new leader of Chainalytics’ MBBC, Harding will continue to grow the consortium to include new modes and regions of analysis. Currently, the consortium has 78 members accounting for over $14 billion in transportation spend. The most recent model covering the US, Canada, and in and out of Mexico included benchmarks for truckload dry van, temperature-controlled, flatbed, and intermodal. In addition, Chainalytics now offers models for North American less-than-truckload (LTL) freight, global ocean container services, and full-truck service in India.

Matt is the perfect fit to lead our transportation benchmarking efforts,” said Gary Girotti, vice president of transportation services at Chainalytics. He has the perfect balance of technical skills, analytical knowledge, and practical industry experience that our clients have come to expect. He will continue to develop innovative ways to address our clients’ most pressing transportation management issues.”

Prior to joining Chainalytics, Harding served as vice president of consulting at Transplace, Inc., where he was responsible for all logistics engineering and consulting activities. In previous roles at Manhattan Associates, Logistics.com, and Sabre Inc., Harding pioneered transportation procurement activities for leading companies in food, CPG, and retail. He holds a Master’s of Engineering in Logistics from MIT and a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from Georgia Tech.

Chainalytics’ benchmarking consortium not only provides clients with visibility into market rates, but the membership itself also enables shippers to leverage the knowledge and experience of a large pool of shippers to make more informed decisions, said Harding. The growing customer base, scale, and sophistication of the offering are all reasons to be excited about the potential Chainalytics can bring the industry.”
