National Air Cargo Teams Up With Jammies for Gi’s to Deliver Injured Troops Much Needed Personal Supplies

ORCHARD PARK, NEW YORK – National Air Cargo today provided charitable land transport to deliver more than 3,000 pounds of various donated personal affects on behalf of Jammies for GI’s to Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas to ensure that recovering injured U.S. troops have personal clothing items while at the hospital. Wounded troops often must leave their personal items such as clothes, under garments and personal hygiene products behind when they are evacuated because of an injury from a war zone.

The supplies were picked up by an express truck contracted by National Air Cargo at the Jammies for GI’s warehouse in Kenmore, N.Y. with a scheduled delivery date to Brooke Army Medical Center on Friday. Jammies for GI’s, based in Tonawanda, NY, is a non-profit organization dedicated to collecting and supplying wounded U.S. troops with clothes and personal items. The organization is entirely volunteer based and collects donated items from across the country.

All collected items are donated to severely injured soldiers, most of whom have suffered major burns or lost limbs in battle, and, as such, clothes such as tear away pants and shorts are essential in their recovery period. Items donated included all new underwear, socks, t-shirts, sweat pants, tear-away pants, shorts, pajamas and robes, slippers, flip-flops, sneakers, blankets, shaving Items and various personal care items. The items recently collected were among the most ever by the organization.

“Sick and wounded troops arrive at military hospitals without any of their personal affects and most arrive with just the clothes on their backs, leaving them nothing to wear when recovering beside medical gowns,” said Cheryl Lepsch, founder of Jammies for GI’s. “Thanks to National Air Cargo and all the many kind-hearted individuals that have either donated or helped collect clothes many of our brave sons and daughters that have been injured defending our country will have comfortable clothes and personal hygiene products during their recovery.”

“We are honored to assist such a noble organization as Jammies for GI’s in its mission to improve on the quality of life of troops that have sustained horrible injuries in battle,” Preston Murray, CEO, said. “While our services are vital to the United States military operations across the world, we also strongly believe it is our duty as a company to do all we can to help our wounded soldiers in their times of need, so when these types of calls for assistance arise we do not give it a second thought to lend a helping hand.”
