New York Shipping Association, Inc., Remains Committed to its Maritime Roots in New York City

New York Shipping Association Inc., (NYSA) a bi-state industry Association, has maintained offices in New York City since its establishment in 1956. After the attacks on the World Trade Center in 2001, the Association was forced to split the location of its operations – with the management and training components moving to New Jersey and the joint NYSA/ILA Contract Board and NYSA/ILA Benefit Funds remaining in Manhattan and leasing space for their operations at 45 Broadway.

After a recent evaluation of office space requirements, the New York Shipping Association determined that it was still most desirable to keep a presence on both sides of the Hudson River. Consequently, the 60 employees of the Contract Board and Benefit Funds have just relocated their offices to brand new space located at 77 Water Street in Lower Manhattan.

“The Association is proud to continue its presence in New York City and proud to maintain its maritime roots there,” remarked Joseph Curto, President of the New York Shipping Association. “77 Water Street is a great location for our employees and is somewhat symbolic of the rich history surrounding the development of our Port and all that grew from maritime activities, Curto concluded.”
The lease on the property is for 7 years and was negotiated through Cushman/Wakefield.
