NYK Provides Free Land Transport of Relief Supplies by Container Trailer

NYK has set up the “Third Relief Supplies Hotline” in cooperation with the Japan Federation of Economic Organizations, and will provide free land transport of relief supplies to Japan earthquake and tsunami affected areas using container trailers of Nippon Container Yuso Co., Ltd., an NYK Group company.

Upon requests from Iwate and Miyagi prefectures, the relief supplies of daily products, electrical equipments and clothes are being accepted from companies and organizations from April 4 to 14. After collection, Nippon Container Yuso will transport the items from Yokohama to the disaster areas by land. For details of relief supplies being accepted, please refer to the website of the 1% Club of the Japan Federation of Economic Organizations.

This is the second operation where the NYK Group has provided free relief transportation, following on the “First Relief Supplies Hotline”, during which Yamatai, a module carrier operated by NYK-Hinode Line Ltd., delivered around 146 tons of aid including food, baby goods, and sanitary items from the port of Kobe to the port of Hachinohe by sea.

While monitoring the needs of the disaster areas, NYK will continue to use its logistics and transport services, facilities, and networks across oceans, land, and air to demonstrate the group’s commitment to social contribution activities in cooperation with related organizations.
