Project Cargo Network (PCN) to hold 1st Annual Summit in London

JOC Staff |
Project Cargo Network has announced that it's 1st Annual Summit will be held in London from 19-20 November 2011 at the Park Plaza Riverbank Hotel, which offers stunning views of the River Thames, Houses of Parliament, Big Ben and many other London landmarks.

Chairwoman, Rachel Humphrey says Today’s technology makes it easier for our Members to keep in touch using email, iPhone’s, blackberry’s, MSN, Skype, etc. At PCN we embrace technology and recently developed our own sophisticated networking facilities including the PCN Online Networking System and Specialist Online Discussions. However, it is a proven fact that meeting face to face is, and always will be, the key to business success.

Representatives from all major world markets are expected at the 2-day conference, which will consist of pre-arranged 1-2-1 Business Meetings plus a Workshop Session and a very exciting Medieval Banquet. The gathering will provide an opportunity for PCN Members to meet together in one place at the same time, saving them substantial time away from the office as well as considerable travel expenses.

Rachel adds Delegates will leave our meeting feeling motivated, stimulated and most importantly, they will be rewarded with a considerable increase in the volume of business with their fellow PCN partners.

PCN was established in 2010 by Rachel (who has over a decade of experience in managing and developing the ISO certified Universal Freight Organisation) after she carried out research and felt that although the heavy lift sector has not been immune to the global financial crisis, there was a bright outlook for the key industry players.

For example, according to the World Nuclear Association, electricity demand is increasing twice as fast as overall energy use and is likely to rise 76% to 2030. PCN members have many years experience in this field and now that they have been joined together under the PCN umbrella, they will be able to bid for many of these new projects.

Mr Sanjay Sikka at Direct Logistics (PCN India) says The power sector is witnessing huge growth in India due to the acute shortage of power. New capacity of over 95,000 MW is being introduced with 50% of the new capacity being imported including 30% from China. There are currently 2000 new projects at different stages from planning to completion.

The worldwide demand for oil and gas projects will continue to increase as the International Energy Agency <http://www.iea.org/> predict that oil demand (excluding biofuels) will continue to grow steadily, reaching about 99 million barrels per day by 2035. This will result in numerous new projects including refinery, petrochemical, oil and gas exploration. Again, PCN Members are at the forefront of this sector. For example, Kentco Logistics (PCN UK) has over 20 years experience of tested history in this sector and are already well established in many major oil and gas locations such as Houston, Calgary, Aberdeen, West Africa, Abu Dhabi, Singapore, and throughout Greater China.

Mr Ken Swan, the General Manager of Al Moherbie Transport (PCN Abu Dhabi), who have been operating specialised project transport equipment and services since 1976, says “Abu Dhabi has some US$30 billion of projects commencing in the Oil, Gas and Power Generation fields.”

The World Energy Outlook by IEA also says that the use of modern renewable energy including hydro, wind, solar, geothermal, modern biomass and marine energy may triple between 2008 and 2035, providing a rapid increase in business opportunities for project cargo specialists who have the required capabilities in the supply chain management of oversize plant and equipment, e.g. wind turbines.

Rachel concludes I am proud and delighted to say that after just 4 months, our PCN News page reads like an encyclopaedia of the world’s top specialists in the heavy lift industry.
