Propeller Club Port of New York & New Jersey Chapter Hosts “A Taste of New York/New Jersey” Event

September 6, 2010—The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers’ Pier 60 will be the site of the Propeller Club Port of New York & New Jersey’s first “A Taste of New York/New Jersey” social event to take place on Thursday, September 23rd from 5-9. Food from around the region will be featured, along with local maritime industry entertainment. Proceeds from the event will go to benefit the Urban Assembly New York Harbor School; students and faculty will be on hand to help with the event.

“Given the importance of the maritime industry, we feel a Propeller Club event is the perfect place to also showcase the tastes of our area and bring the maritime community together from all over,” stated Chapter President Carleen Lyden-Kluss. “The Baltimore Propeller Club Chapter has its Crab Feast, and Tampa has its steak and corn roast. We have an abundance of food and fun from the Tri-State area, with a historic venue to add to the zest!”

Co-Chairing the event are Marcus Arky of Metro Group Maritime and George Chalos of Chalos & Co. supported by the Chapter’s Board of Directors. This is the first social event held by the Chapter, which was resurrected in January with an event featuring Richard Larrabee of the Port Authority of New York/New Jersey. The Chapter’s second speaker event featured Maritime Administrator David Matsuda.

The Urban Assembly New York Harbor School provides a college-preparatory education built upon New York City's maritime experience. It has recently moved to Governor’s Island
The cost to attend is $90, which includes entertainment, food and beverages. Tickets are limited, and may be obtained by contacting Rose Lambert at +203 255 4686 or r.lambert@morganmarketcomm.com.
