MONTREAL, April 21, 2010 — CN (TSX:CNR) (NYSE:CNI) invites media representatives to support Rail Safety Week, from April 26 to May 2, 2010. This year, CN Police Chief Stephen Covey is vowing no compromise in the campaign to end accidents, injuries and fatalities on and near railway crossings, tracks and property.

Throughout next week, CN Police will be out in full force, conducting safety blitz operations at railway crossings and commuter stations in about 150 locations across Canada and the United States. They will send clear messages to motorists and commuters about the importance of safety at crossings and the deadly risks of trespassing on railway tracks and property.

The numbers of fatalities and injuries from crossing accidents and trespassing remain unacceptably high, says CN Police Chief Covey. He asks: “What is it going to take to stop people from taking risks? Injuries and fatalities on and near railway crossings, tracks and property must be reduced. CN is determined to end the tragic loss of life and debilitating injuries — most of them completely avoidable.”

CN's no compromise: no accidents - no injuries - no fatalities campaign will stress education and prevention, but CN also plans to get tougher on enforcement.
