Rhenus B.V. Signs Up for OAG Cargo’s Air Freight Rates (AFR) Application in 10 Countries

JOC Staff |
(London, September 2009) Rhenus B.V. (Rhenus) has signed a contract to install OAG Cargo’s Airfreight Rates (AFRA) application as its single platform for rates management in 10 European countries. This will enable Rhenus operations across the region to seamlessly capture all contract, promotional and general airfreight rates from its airline partners and GSAs, speeding up its existing market information and buying processes so that the company can buy airline capacity in the most efficient way.

Dirk de Rooij, Director Business Development at OAG Cargo, commented:
“Rhenus has been a valued customer of AFRA in The Netherlands and Belgium since the product launched in 2003. Last year we successfully implemented a direct interface with their in-house system, providing a feed of real-time rate data from airlines worldwide. With this new agreement, Rhenus is extending its use of the application to include the Czech Republic, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and Russia.
This next step clearly demonstrates the benefits that Rhenus is deriving from using AFRA as a single source of rate information in terms of making management decisions and increasing the productivity of its staff.”

Richard Visser, Rhenus’ Purchase Manager Airfreight Europe, said: “By expanding our usage of AFRA into an additional 8 countries will enable us to build excellent working relationships with our partner airlines and within our Rhenus group.”

Rhenus offices throughout its European network will have access to real-time rates through a simple to use, web-based application without the need to wait for airlines to send updates via email attachments, fax or post. The search function makes it easy to view and compare all types of rates in one place, including historical, current and future rates. With a full range of pricing options for a specific trade lane or destination at their fingertips, forwarders are better able to make informed decisions about their cargo shipments.

The Air Freight Rates application is part of the total cargo portal solution offered by OAG Cargo at www.oagcargo.com. Its Inforwarding Announcements service that enables airlines to publish time sensitive operational announcements to freight forwarders, is now live in 24 countries and states in Europe, North America, Asia and Australia and has over 25,000 registered users. The portal also provides route building, schedules, analysis tools, and truck service points and rates, as well as regulations governing the carriage by air of dangerous goods shipments.
