Schiphol Cargo appoints strategist

Schiphol Cargo – the dedicated cargo management arm of Amsterdam Airport Schiphol – has appointed Hendriena Ritsema as Director, Strategic Development. She succeeds Harry Tomesen, who has retired after 30 years with the airport.

In her new post, Ms. Ritsema will be responsible for process optimisation, innovation and the strategic development of cargo processes and areas at and around the airport. Projects for which she assumes responsibility include cargo aspects of the airport’s long term development programme, Schiphol SmartGate, and the development of the cargo area at Schiphol Southeast.

Before joining Schiphol Cargo, Ms Ritsema’s aviation career included posts at KLM Revenue Management, Schiphol ICT (responsible for the airport’s various automated systems, such as gate management and flight data), and the airport’s Baggage Department - where she set up its Logistics & Innovation Department to monitor, improve and innovate the entire baggage handling process.

Says Schiphol Cargo’s Senior VP Enno Osinga: “We welcome Hendriena to our team. Her considerable experience in managing complex long-term projects will provide us with valuable additional resource to streamline cargo processing at Schiphol, and so maintain our drive to be Europe’s preferred cargo gateway.”
