Southern Air Signs Agreement with Lufthansa Cargo Charter Agency

Norwalk, Connecticut, October 6, 2010 – Southern Air Holdings, Inc. today announced the addition of Lufthansa Cargo Charter Agency (LCCA) to its list of blue chip global clients.

LCCA, a member of the Lufthansa Cargo Group of companies, and Southern Air have signed a definitive agreement under which Southern Air will provide aircraft charter solutions to LCCA.

Southern Air will initially deploy one of its Boeing 747 Classic freighters for the services. The agreement provides options for the parties to extend the contract, including consideration of other aircraft types from Southern Air’s fleet, which currently consists of two new 777Fs and 14 747-200Fs. Southern Air has firm plans to add two new 777Fs and will look to add additional 777Fs beyond those. Southern Air also intends to add several newer -400s to its service solutions.

Southern Air and LCCA have longstanding relationship and a history of cooperation on several fronts including other ACMI, cargo services and aircraft acquisitions.

Southern Air’s CEO, Dan McHugh, commented, “The addition of Lufthansa Cargo Charter Agency to our roster of blue chip global clients reflects that the best in class recognize the value Southern Air is able to deliver. Southern Air is well known for its dynamic operating platform and more than 60 years of global cargo operating experience, and we look forward to applying our expertise to support Lufthansa Cargo Charter Agency’s needs.”
