Swissport receives award from India’s STAT Times

Zurich, 8th February, 2011 – Swissport International has received another award, recognising the quality of its global cargo handling services, this time from India’s STAT Times, in its International Awards for Excellence in Air Cargo.

The Award was decided by online nomination and voting from the worldwide readers of STAT Times, in a month-long process ending on 17th January. In the International Ground Handler of the Year category, Swissport was awarded the runner-up prize.

The Award was presented in a glittering Gala Award Night function at the Leela Kempinski in Mumbai on 2nd February, as part of the Air Cargo India 2012 event.

John Batten, Swissport’s Executive Vice President for Global Cargo, commented: “We are extremely pleased to receive another award, in recognition of our standards of excellence. It is particularly satisfying to receive this award from readers of India’s STAT Times, because it demonstrates how well the quality of our services are known throughout the world – even in markets where we are not currently physically present.”

The STAT Times award follows Swissport’s recent successes in other international awards competitions. For the third consecutive year, Swissport was voted Air Cargo Handling Agent of the Year by readers of Air Cargo Week, in the prestigious World Air Cargo Awards, reconfirming its leading position in the cargo handling sector.

Swissport was also named Best Ground Handling Services Company, for the eleventh year in succession, by the independent London-based Institute of Transport Management (ITM).

Swissport International Ltd provides ground services for around 100 million passengers and 3.2 million tonnes of cargo a year (the latter using 95 warehouses with a total floor area of over 350,000 square metres) on behalf of some 650 client-companies in the aviation sector. With a workforce of around 35,000 personnel, Swissport is active at 177 stations in 36 countries on five continents, and generated consolidated operating revenue of CHF 1.7 billion in 2011. www.swissport.com
