TIACA launches free membership to shippers to bring air cargo industry closer to ultimate customers
Shippers, the ultimate customers of the global air cargo supply chain, are being invited to join The International Air Cargo Association (TIACA) free of charge.
The initiative recognizes the importance for air cargo service providers to gain a more complete understanding of the needs of shippers. TIACA says it will provide a forum to shippers to get closer to existing and prospective air logistics partners to exchange ideas, discuss changing needs and challenges, and to develop new business opportunities.
TIACA’s free membership offer defines shippers as a manufacturer, wholesaler/distributor, retailer, or the ultimate importer/original exporter.
TIACA plans to approach shippers around the world to ensure it attracts global representation of their views and needs and they will be offered the opportunity to actively participate in its events, starting with its International Air Cargo Forum & Exposition in Amsterdam between November 2nd 4th, 2010. Dedicated shipper presentations will form part of the conference.
By taking up TIACA’s offer of free membership, shippers will benefit from complimentary access to TIACA conferences and exhibitions and receive personal copies of the Association’s Weekly Regulatory Update and its quarterly newsletter. TIACA says shipper members will also have the chance to use its meetings planner to set up discussions with forwarders and airlines participating in ACF 2010.
Ulrich Ogiermann, Chairman of TIACA, said: “Our industry talks about the importance of listening to customers but we are taking action that makes that even easier. Similarly, shippers often claim that their voice is not heard by airlines and forwarders so I hope they will take this opportunity to become members of TIACA and to participate proactively in the Association. I am confident it will bring measurable benefits to their business. By extending our shipper membership, we also hope more freight forwarders will see greater value in joining TIACA. Based on our discussions so far, we are extremely encouraged by the response of shippers to our initiative, which is open to all shippers as individuals and companies.”
