TOLEDO, Ohio, May 23, 2012 – The Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority Board convenes the May Board of Directors meeting tomorrow at 8 a.m. at the BetterBuilding Northwest Ohio offices on the 2nd floor of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Plaza located at 415 Emerald Ave, Toledo, Ohio 43604. The following items of interest will be discussed and decisions and further details regarding these and additional items are available upon request after the conclusion of the board meeting tomorrow.

• Consider Amendment Regarding Energy Program Revolving Loan Fund Transactions and Energy Program Expense Approvals
In 2010, the Port Authority Board of Directors authorized the Port Authority to approve and disperse energy program expenses in the amount of $50,000 without Board approval. As the energy program’s activities begin to increase, the project progress could be accelerated if more expenses could be approved and paid every cycle. The Port Authority Board of Directors will consider increasing the amount the Port Authority can approve and disperse through the energy program without Board approval to $100,000.

• Consider Neighborhood Economic Development Grant for Frederick Douglass Community Association
The Port Authority Board of Directors will consider authorizing a grant agreement with Frederick Douglass Community Association in the amount of $31,700 for the future development of a roof top solar array and an urban garden. These initiatives are part of a comprehensive strategy to establish the Association’s Urban Center of Excellence for Sustainability and Renewable Energy program.

• Consider Public Collaborative Agreement for Youth Training and Employment Initiatives
The Port Authority Board of Directors will consider authorizing a $35,000 grant to support youth job training and employment initiatives administered by both the Lucas County Workforce Development Agency and the City of Toledo. These programs teach young people the soft and hard skills necessary to gain long term employment and promote their opportunities for success in the workplace.
