TOLL rolls out iCON technology platform in Europe
Toll Global Forwarding (TGF) has completed deployment of its iCON supply-chain technology throughout its entire Europe and Middle East region, so finalising the global roll-out that began in 2009. iCON (Information Control platform) is a modular system that manages end to end supply chain processes and information flows, providing complete visibility and information control for customers, staff and service partners via the internet.
iCON’s comprehensive web-based capabilities centre around order management, shipment management, supply chain event and exception management, and reporting and business intelligence. The iCON application is highly-configurable to the unique needs of each customer, using a modular design that assembles a bespoke combination of logistics and information services, and monitoring and execution tools - enabling TGF to provide industry-leading supply chain management solutions and lead logistics offerings for their customers.
iCON was first launched in TGF’s Australian, New Zealand and Asian regions in March 2009, followed by the Americas and Africa. Implementation in Europe and the Middle East marks the final phase in providing a single uniform solution across the entire TGF network.
Says TGF Regional MD EME, Hakan Bicil: “iCON enables us to connect all supply chain participants into a single, seamless solution. iCON’s tight control of information and processes will enable our customers to reduce costs and administration, reduce working capital through improved inventory management, and improve service through timely information and faster response to potential problems.”
He concludes: “iCON provides TGF with a highly-flexible, state-of-the-art system that competes effectively with even the most seasoned of global logistics players, many of whom are now operating inflexible, legacy systems. It’s a powerful platform from which to launch our supply chain solutions and lead logistics services into Europe and the Middle East, providing this region with a long-awaited alternative global solution provider.”
Throughout 2010, TGF will further develop iCON’s reporting and information capabilities, to enable staff and customers jointly to analyse data and manage costs, facilitating improved decision making.
The Toll board has committed more than AUD 10 million to the TGF technology strategy and core development programme, of which iCON forms the central part, spanning the next three to five years.
