Top Remy Exec leaves to Lead Private Fleet Backhaul
Rodney French has joined Private Fleet Backhaul as General Manager in charge of all operations. French was previously Director, Global Production Control and Logistics for Tier One supplier Remy International. During Rodney’s 37 years with Remy, he worked various production and logistics roles of increasing responsibility, ultimately being responsible for worldwide PC&L operations. Rodney’s supply chain expertise, management experience, and core belief in Continuous Improvement make him the ideal person to lead the fast growing PFBH. Private Fleet Backhaul CEO Ed Lembcke stated, “Over my 25 year management career with various companies, Rodney was the best manager I ever had the pleasure to work around; I’ve been recruiting him for three years. Rodney is the right person to take us to the next level.”
PFBH has experienced significant growth since its inception in 2002 when Ed & Judy Lembcke combined their retirement savings and Judy’s Remy buyout package into the venture. Their bold Texas Hold’em all-in wager has exceeded all expectations. Currently, 30 local employees have the company on track for 2010 sales of $13M, placing them in the top 3% of freight brokerages in the country. Major customers contributing to the 20,000 loads they will move this year include General Electric, Dial, Kroger, Supervalu and Pepsi Bottling Group.
In considering the decision to leave such a high profile job at a large company like Remy, Rodney remarked “PFBH has such a unique business model that adds value and offers significant savings to shippers for domestic transportation. I’m also intrigued by the impact on our environment. PFBH will move 20,000 backhaul loads this year. In rough math, this translates to 1.4M gallons of diesel fuel savings and 1.4K tons of CO2 emissions avoided by using the PFBH backhaul concept. I think the potential for growth is astronomical, and I am very excited to have the opportunity to help this business grow in Anderson, Indiana.”
Private Fleet Backhaul, Anderson IN, is a 3PL that has created the marketplace for shippers and private fleets to collaborate, allowing shippers to move consistent high volume lanes via the underutilized backhaul capacity of America’s private fleets.
