TOTE CEO Anthony Chiarello Receives Vincent T. Hirsch Award for Professional Excellence

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEPrinceton, NJ – June 28, 2013 – TOTE, Inc. President and CEO Anthony Chiarello was honored by The Navy League of the United States with the Vincent T. Hirsch Maritime Award at the organization’s annual convention and Sea Service Awards Luncheon in Long Beach, CA last week.

The Vincent T. Hirsch Maritime Award, named for a patron and past president of the Navy League, was presented to Chiarello in honor of his achievements during his more than 30 year career with maritime organizations and “contributions to protecting and growing the privately-owned U.S. –flag merchant fleet, for the United States national security and economic prosperity.”

Chiarello, who joined TOTE, Inc. (formerly American Shipping Group) in August of 2010, was previously COO and executive vice president of NYK Logistics (Americas), Inc. Prior to NYK, Chiarello was with the AP Moller/ Maersk organization for 16 years where he held a variety of leadership positions.

Chiarello’s industry involvement includes leadership participation with the Retail Industry Leaders Association; board member of the Transportation Institute; board member of CRT (Coalition for Responsible Transportation); past facilitator for the annual AAPA/MARAD/NAWE Terminal Management Training Program; member of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals; member of the Advisory Board of The United States Maritime Resource Center; and past board member for the Global Maritime and Transportation School (GMATS) at the US Merchant Marine Academy.

The award comes on the heels of TOTE’s June 4 acceptance of the Next Generation Shipping award at Nor-Shipping, the premier forum for the global maritime industry. Chiarello travelled to Oslo, Norway to accept the award for TOTE’s Marlin Class of 3,100 TEU LNG-powered containerships, ordered from General Dynamics NASSCO in December 2012. Once completed in 2015, the 764-foot ships will operate in the U.S. Jones Act market between Jacksonville, Fla., and San Juan, P.R. The Marlin Class will be the world’s first LNG powered containerships.
