Toys“R”Us, Inc. names APL its Ocean Carrier of the Year

HONG KONG, 13 OCTOBER 2010: Toys“R”Us, Inc., the world’s leading dedicated toy and juvenile products retailer, has named APL its 2010 Ocean Carrier of the Year. A container shipping leader, APL was honored at concurrent ceremonies in Hong Kong and Union, New Jersey.

According to an eight-part scorecard Toys“R”Us used to rate carrier performance, APL topped all shipping lines based on criteria that included on-time vessel arrivals, space and equipment availability and the accuracy of shipment documentation. This is the second time that Toys“R”Us has presented its Carrier of the Year award. The retailer said APL finished with a 95.58% score, which placed it in the “exceeds expectations” category.

“We’re gratified to be recognized by one of the world’s best-known brands,” said George Goldman, Vice President and Managing Director for APL in Hong Kong and South China. “We have a long and successful relationship with Toys“R”Us and this indicates the relationship remains strong.”

Toys“R”Us sells merchandise at more than 1,560 stores worldwide, including 848 Toys“R”Us and Babies“R”Us stores in the United States, and more than 510 international stores and 200 licensed stores in 33 countries and jurisdictions.
