Transportation Intermediaries Association Announces a New Goal as Part of its Veteran Initiative

Alexandria, VA Sept 9, 2013 TIA is proud to announce an ambitious new goal for its Veteran Initiative program. By the end of 2014, it is the Association's goal to have 100 veterans hired by its members.

TIA, starting very early in2013, has been working to help returning and disabled veterans find gainful employment with member companies across the nation. TIA has now enlisted over 70 companies in more than 30 states to help hire our returning warriors.

TIA's Chairman Geoff Turner has said "As TIA Chairman, I pledge to hire five veterans by the end of 2014 and challenge our membership to hire 100 soldiers over that period. I am proud to announce that our efforts are underway. We recently hired Claude Whittaker, who served our country with honor and distinction in the United States Marine Corps".

Turner goes on to point out with more than 1,300 TIA members in nearly every state, the Association has ability to effect a positive change in people's lives on a massive scale. The soldier’s efforts in Tikrit and Baghdad, Kandahar and Kabul will long be remembered. "Today, I challenge us all to not forget them upon their return," adds Turner.

A society can be judged in part by how it treats those in need. Unfortunately, there are too many veterans who find themselves unemployed or underemployed. Our nation’s experiment in self-governance could not exist without brave men and women willing to sacrifice on our behalf. Their efforts should be recognized and rewarded and TIA's members are stepping up to this challenge.
