Transportation Intermediaries Association Announces That Avalon Risk Management Will Sponsor Five Scholarships

Alexandria, VA- January 24, 2011 - TIA is pleased to announce that Avalon Risk Management has again agreed to sponsor five (5) $1000 scholarships. These will be used by the winners to cover the cost of coach airfare and three nights accommodations at the TIA’s 33rd Annual Convention and Trade Show to be held April 6-9, 2011 in Orlando, Florida. TIA will waive the conference registration fee for the scholarship winners.

“Avalon values our strong relationship with TIA,” said Michael Brown, Avalon’s Executive Vice President. TIA's educational programs work to increase industry knowledge, which also helps reduce the risks businesses face. We are proud to sponsor this scholarship and hope it will draw attention to TIA's convention and most importantly, the educational panels offered at the conference.

“This is a very exciting opportunity for which we are grateful to Avalon. Anyone who has attended a TIA Convention knows that their attendance returns multiples on their investment. The Avalon scholarships will help individuals that have not previously attended a TIA Convention advance their business,” said Robert Voltmann, TIA President and CEO.

The TIA Foundation Board will select five qualified applicants for the scholarship awards. It is the intention of the Board to offer the scholarship on an annual basis to promote education and industry involvement. Candidates must be first time TIA conference attendee and have a minimum two years experience in the 3rd party logistics industry.

Applications must be received by the TIA Foundation board on or before February 1, 2011 for consideration. Scholarship recipients will be notified by February 16, 2011 and provided necessary information for redeeming their scholarship. All recipients must agree to submit a written summary after attending the TIA conference summarizing their experience at the convention and explaining how they believe that their attendance will benefit them and further their career goals.

To receive an application, or for more information about the scholarships, contact Cindy Amos, TIA Director of Education and Development at amos@tianet.org or (703) 299-5710.
