Alexandria, VA – February 14, 2011 - The Transportation Intermediaries Association will hold its 33rd Annual Convention and Trade Show April 6-9, 2011 in Orlando Florida at the Loews Royal Pacific Resort at Universal Studios. Seminars and workshops are focused on exploring the challenges facing the Third Party Logistics industry, providing real time solutions that work and offering strategies to cope with the current business climate. Details about the convention are available at www.tianet.org/2011.

Participants will benefit from 16 educational sessions in 4 tracks which can be mixed and matched to create a unique learning experience. Defense Transportation Coordination Initiative Experts will discuss how to secure government freight, Robert Voltmann, TIA’s President and CEO will moderate the Insurance Q&A panel and some of TIA’s most successful members will share how they achieved their goals. TIA’s updated Carrier Qualification Framework, developed in response to CSA, will be released at the Convention. All of this and the fact that this is the largest trade show for brokerage-based 3PLs makes this is a “must attend” event.

The keynote speaker for the convention will be Jim Morris, whose story is the basis for the very successful movie “The Rookie. As a small town high school baseball coach, Jim bet that if his team won the District Championship, a feat they had never before accomplished, he would try out for a major league baseball team. After his team won the championship, Jim threw 12 consecutive pitches at 98 mph at the open tryout to the amazement of the scouts in attendance. Jim will share his inspirational and motivational story with us, certainly a highlight of the Convention.

The Convention will provide outstanding opportunities to build relationships at numerous networking events including a 5K run/walk, a golf outing and the Chairman’s Reception and Award Dinner on Saturday night.

As the economy begins to improve and government changes increase, it is more important than ever to position your company for the future. TIA's meeting is designed to help the industry's leading 3PLs recognize the changes necessary to grow and prosper, said Robert Voltmann, TIA’s president and CEO.
