US Airways awards UK & Ireland GSA contract to Globe Air Cargo
US Airways has appointed Globe Air Cargo, part of European Cargo Services (ECS), as its exclusive general sales and service agent in the UK and Ireland.
The new contract took effect on February 1st 2010. Globe Air Cargo will market all cargo capacity for US Airways to the United States from the UK and Ireland on the airline’s daily flights from London Gatwick, London Heathrow, Manchester, Glasgow and Dublin to their gateways in Charlotte, North Carolina, and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
US Airways’ extensive network will enable freight forwarders and shippers in the UK to achieve fast, seamless connections to prime markets such as Atlanta, Baltimore, Buffalo, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Chicago, Detroit, Greensboro, Greenville, Indianapolis, Memphis, Minneapolis, Newark, New York, Pittsburgh, San Juan, St Louis and many more.
Mark Pulling, Managing Director of Globe Air Cargo in the UK and Ireland, said: “This is a major success for us. Globe Air Cargo says US Airways’ with over 30 tons a day capacity will be filled by direct traffic bound for the airline’s main US hubs in Philadelphia and Charlotte as well as cargo bound for other domestic destinations in US Airways’ network and express, courier and interline shipments. From its locations in London, Manchester, Glasgow and Dublin, Globe will work closely with cargo agents throughout the UK and Ireland to market US Airways’ network.
