Wagner Industries Is Now Wagner Logistics
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Wagner Industries, Inc. will now be known as Wagner Logistics, Inc.
“The name change is the result of our evolving business model and describes exactly what we do for our customers,” said John Wagner Jr., who will remain president and retain an ownership position in the Kansas City, Mo.-headquartered company.
The Wagner name is iconic in Kansas City transportation history. Founded as Wagner Cartage Service, the company is in its 66th year in business. In 1979 the name was changed to Wagner Industries. “We want the new name to be crystal clear about who we are as a company. We want companies looking for solutions to their logistics challenges to know exactly where they can find a great partner and resource,” said Wagner.
Current Chief Operating Officer Brian Smith has been named Chief Executive Officer of Wagner Logistics. Smith will retain the COO title. Smith joined Wagner in 2005 and has served in a variety of management positions including director of industrial engineering and vice president of operations.
“We want to provide a new level of service for our customers,” said Smith. “As CEO, I’ll be able to focus on the strategic direction the company will need to take and work with our customers to make sure we’re providing exactly what they need to solve their logistics challenges.”
