Wal-Mart Senior Supply Chain Executive to Be Keynote Speaker at CSCMP Annual Global Conference

Lombard, Illinois USA (March 17, 2009)—Gary Maxwell, Senior Vice President of International Supply Chain for Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. will be the keynote speaker at the Council of Supply Chain Management Professional’s 2009 Annual Global Conference to be held September 20-23 in Chicago.

“It’s not often our profession can hear analysis, insights, and perspective from a practitioner with Gary’s experience and responsibilities,” said Rick Blasgen, CSCMP President and CEO. “His presentation will highlight the challenges and opportunities that exist globally for supply chains as they continue to evolve and add value to companies and their customers. Attendees will walk away with very valuable information thanks to Gary.”

Maxwell’s presentation is entitled World-Class versus Best-in-Market Supply Chains. Maxwell is responsible for supporting warehousing, transportation, and inventory management across Wal-Mart’s international division. He joined the company as vice president of distribution and logistics for Sam’s Club in 1999, and has held various positions in the company, including vice president of logistics administration and senior vice president of replenishment. He holds a BS in industrial engineering from Oklahoma State University.

The conference is the largest of its kind for the supply chain management profession and, according to Blasgen, will put an intense focus on fast and hard solutions attendees can take back to their companies and use.

“We know that tough times present a whole set of new challenges for our profession and we’ve designed and assembled solutions that can be used every day to improve performance,” added Blasgen. “Innovation will occur, and we will energize our attendees to drive it.”

The event will host over 3,500 practitioners, educators, and thought leaders from around the world. Over 120 educational sessions are planned. Attendees who register before April 30 will receive $400.00 US off the on-site rate.
