Westfield, NJ - Atlantic Container Line, an international transportation leader, is set to move The Royal Shakespeare Company’s 90 containers of theatrical equipment and staging from Liverpool, U.K. to New York City. In this rare U.S. appearance, the Company’s six-week residency will be at the Park Avenue Armory as part of the Lincoln Center Festival in New York City for the 2011 Summer Season.

The 40’ containers will transport in two moves. Forty-eight containers will sail on ACL’s combination RORO/Containership, Atlantic Concert on May 21. The remaining 48 containers will sail on ACL’s Atlantic Companion a week later. Upon the return back to the UK, the 90 containers will be shipped on three consecutive vessels during the month of August 2011. ACL’s Managing Director, Ian Higby, said from his office in Liverpool, U.K.: “With ACL, it‘s never a question of cargo to be on-time or not to be delivered! For over 40 years, we’ve been the experts that get the job done correctly, efficiently and cost-effectively. ACL’s Sales & Trades Department worked closely with Embassy Freight Services of Sutton Coldfield and developed a moving schematic to ensure the smoothest, on-time operation for the Royal Shakespeare Company.”

The Royal Shakespeare Company is the world’s most famous Classical Theatre Company. Five of Shakespeare’s most beloved plays, within the full-scale replica of the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, will be shipped by ACL. ACL was the logical choice for this move because it specializes in special project cargo and transports with ultimate precision – museum pieces, movie sets, concert tour trailers, planes and helicopters. ACL most recently transported Former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s private helicopter.

Since 1967, ACL has been a specialized carrier of containers, project and oversized cargo, heavy
equipment and vehicles with the world’s largest combination RORO/Containerships.

Headquartered in Westfield, New Jersey, ACL has offices throughout Europe and North America.
