PRESS RELEASE

White Arrow was honored with a SmartWay® Excellence Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency as a true industry leader in freight supply chain environmental performance and energy efficiency. Since joining SmartWay program, White Arrow continuously increased average fuel mileage per truck by replacing over 80% of old sleeper cab tractors with fuel efficient day cab tractors. This move helped White Arrow save over 17,000 gallons of fuel in 2011 alone. White Arrow also shipped intermodal, saving more than 1.3 million gallons of fuel during last year alone, compared with over-the-road shipments, and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 49%.

”The above mentioned measures, along with maximizing trailer space and minimizing empty miles helped us not only become greener but also improve our service, efficiency and overall reliability.” - Chris Ceausu, CEO of White Arrow.

White Arrow was one of 40 companies, representing less than one percent of the Partnerships’ nearly 3000 Partners, to receive this distinction. The award for truck and multimodal carrier Partners were announced at the American Trucking Association’s Annual Management Conference & Exhibition in Las Vegas, Nevada. Shipper and logistic company Partners were recognized at the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals annual conference held in Atlanta, Georgia.

"EPA is pleased to recognize these SmartWay Partners with a 2012 Excellence Award. I commend White Arrow for its leadership in moving goods efficiently and reducing the environmental impact of freight through the second generation SmartWay Transport Partnership", said Chris Grundler, Acting Director of EPA’s Office of Transportation and Air Quality. “Their commitment is helping lead the freight industry to a more sustainable future."
